Meet The Willows Team
Senior Executive Director – Senior Executive Director- Sheryl has made her career in serving seniors with an extensive background in senior care. Starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant, Activity Director, Community Relations Director, 6 years as Executive Director of a free standing memory care community and has been with Cascade Living Group as the Senior Executive Director for The Cascades of Bremerton for the past 9 and a half years. Here she oversees Ashley Gardens, Memory Care, The Cottage Assisted Living as well as The Willows Independent Living Community.
She brings an outstanding reputation as an Executive Director: someone who is very passionate about quality care and programming, extremely committed to her residents, their families, and her staff. She is someone that loves what she does professionally and expresses that throughout her interactions in the community.
Sheryl is very much a local, having been raised in the Port Orchard area. She married a gentleman that was serving the U.S. Navy as a submariner and they remained in the area for his entire 24 year career. They continue to reside in Port Orchard. In her words, she is blessed with amazing children; a son, his wife and two grandchildren. A daughter, her husband and they are expecting their first child. Sheryl’s biggest joy in life is spending time with her grandchildren.
Associate Executive Director – Theresa is a Washington native and was born and raised in Seattle. She attended college at Central Washington University where she received a degree in Business Administration. In 1994 she and her husband moved to Port Orchard to be close to her mother and other family members.
Theresa has over 20 years of experience managing independent, assisted living and memory care communities and has opened several retirement communities locally in Kitsap County as well as Pierce, King, Whatcom and Thurston Counties. Additionally she has cared for her father who has dementia and just recently assisted him with a move to Ashley Gardens of Bremerton. As a long time health care professional and caregiver she is passionate about providing excellent care and service to seniors.
Theresa continues to live in Port Orchard with her family including her husband Paul, sixteen year old son Sloan and cat “Miss Kitty”. She enjoys traveling, hiking and spending time with her family.
Director of Sales and Marketing – Lisa Marshall has an extensive background in sales, marketing and event planning and has always had a great passion for health care. Lisa keeps a creative, fun and positive attitude as she carries out any task such as working with the Alzheimer’s Association, which she has done for the last several years. Lisa has also served on the Gig Harbor Multi-Agency Coordination Council for Emergency Preparedness as well as the High Risk Population committee. Growing up in Kitsap Peninsula with her Great-Grandmother, Grandmother and Grandfather has taught Lisa many valuable lessons for her day to day life and she still has her Grandparents with her today. Lisa is the mother of two adult children and two grandchildren, who are the loves of her life. Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, swimming, biking and hiking with her dogs in her spare time.
Life Enrichment/Fitness Director – Colleen was raised in Seattle and completed her Bachelors in Social work At the University of Washington. She moved to the Kitsap Peninsula after marrying her husband and is a proud mother of a teenage daughter. Her Love of sports and outdoor recreation led her to the path of working with seniors. She enjoys challenging individuals to set and reach personal goals and believes everyone has a gift to share with others and hopes to utilize those in the community she works in. Colleen has Lead several Silver Sneakers classes and is a certified Senior Fitness Specialist with American Fitness Professional Association.
Community Relations Director – Nettie has spent more than seven years as the Community Relations Director for the Cascades of Bremerton. With a background in Escrow and Real Estate, senior care has been by far, the most gratifying. Nettie graduated from City University of Seattle in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, and an emphasis in Project Management. Nettie’s studies not only allowed her to enrich her professionalism, but also her communication skills in working most effectively with our seniors. She was born and raised in Minnesota, with most of her family still residing there and relocated to Kitsap County in 2007. Nettie now resides in Poulsbo, WA, with her husband, cat Cora and their two children. She also loves to dine out, travel and try new and challenging activities.
Business Office Manager – Summer started her senior living career about 4 years ago with The Willows as the concierge and was able to grow within the company to the Business Office Manager. She enjoys spending time with the residents and catching up with them day to day. She was born and raised in California and decided to move to the great Pacific Northwest in 2008. In her spare time she enjoys doing anything outdoors and spending quality time her son, friends and family.
Dining Service Manager – Sheresa has been part of our team for the past four and a half years. She started as a server quickly became our lead server. She was recently promoted to Dining Service Manager. Sheresa has worked in dining for the past 13 years. Sher shows up every day with a positive, can do attitude. She loves the residents and it shows in her work. She is resident focused and continually goes above and beyond to please them.
When not at work she enjoys spending time outdoors with her daughter, boyfriend and their family dog.
Executive Chef – Originally from Boise Idaho, Born Executive Chef James Ertz, was lured into the culinary world when his passion for this industry and for food was recognized at an early age. Followed in his Great Great Grandfathers footsteps, who started the Nalley Food Company. James went on to study the culinary arts at The Art Institute of Seattle, a world renowned study of the arts, where he learned to develop his own flare and accomplished more than fifteen years in the business. He continued his career at exclusive restaurants such as: Christina’s in Sun Valley Idaho, Stanley and Seaforts, and El Gaucho. He held the executive chef position for the Lobster Shop, and also was the executive chef for two senior living communities.
Over the years, James worked under French influential culinary leaders who helped shape his style and depth of knowledge. James balances his career with enjoying every spare moment with his wife and daughter. James’ culinary philosophy and passion reflects the growing trend towards a healthier traditional lifestyle working with neighboring farmers to seek out the finest in regional and local organic produce to ensure the essence of his cuisine. James prefers to allow the natural flavors of food to express themselves.
In addition to cooking Ertz’s passion is to develop younger chefs to discover their talents in the same way he was encouraged. Chef James Ertz believes whole-heartedly in staying active, continuously learning and always having fun as a member of Cascade Living Group.
Plant Operations Director – Kevin Gary has lived in Washington state for the past 20 years. He has worked in both private and public as maintenance and operations technician including for the school district. Kevin brings a wealth of knowledge and has already proven to be an great asset to our team. He approaches the job with a wonderful attitude loves his work and interacting with the residents.
Meet The Cottage Assisted Living Team
Sally Salgado, LPN
Wellness Director – Sally has been in nursing for over 20 years with a focus on geriatrics throughout her career. She has always enjoyed being around and helping the elderly.
She is native of the Kitsap area and currently lives in Port Orchard, but has traveled extensively which has given her a good perspective of other regions, as well as, other cultures.
In her spare time she love to be in the outdoors or just lounging around the house with her pets and husband.
Life Enrichment Director – Plans, coordinates and conducts intellectual, cultural, spiritual, creative, social, fitness games, sports activities and community outings.

Maintenance Director – Milton is our “Can-Do” man and always has a smile and a positive attitude. Milton lives in the Bremerton area with his wife and children. Milton knows our community very well and always gives 100% to the tasks he undertakes. He is a truly valued team member, with the knowledge and ability to keep our community running smoothly.
